Title: Captain America: Civil War
Starring: Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, a lot of other people.
Synopsis: Political differences arise between members of the Avengers.
Review: Captain America: Civil War is directed by the Russo brothers, and stars Chris Evans and Robert Downy Jr., among many other actors. The cast for this movie is insane!! Not only did they bring back many of the Avengers, like Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch, but they also added so many exciting, new characters. The movie also had William Hurt and Martin Freeman which is something you can’t complain about. Let me talk about the new characters. Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther was soo good. Not only does he add diversity to the Avengers, but his character was very interesting to boot. I do feel like they kind of rushed his story arch a little bit, but nevertheless he was fantastic and a very badass character. One of my favorite characters in this movie was SPIDERMAN, who was in the trailer so I did not spoil this. Tom Holland was perfect for the role of Peter Parker, and I thought the Russo brothers nailed his introduction. He also added some much needed comic relief. Also Paul Rudd’s Ant Man was in the movie and he added some great comic relief as well.
There are so many great scenes in this movie. Including one scene at an airport that is one of the best scenes I have ever seen in a comic book movie. This whole movie revolves around the Anti-Hero Registration Act decided by the government to limit the heroes actions, and not let them do things at their own will. The disagreements over whether this should happen basically splits the members of the Avengers in this movie, including Iron Man and Captain America. One thing I like about this movie, is that both sides give great arguments and you aren’t obviously for one side. You care for all these characters and all we can really do as a audience is hope nothing horribly goes wrong, because of the disagreements that are occurring.
As mentioned before, I do feel like a lot of the story arcs in this movie were forced. But it’s hard to cram all these characters and storylines in a movie without doing that every once in a while. There is also a couple instances where Marvel will just do stuff without really explaining why. This is something I can’t really explain without spoiling, but I can talk about it in my spoiler review.
I thought the actors gave great performances in the movie, including Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans. There is a lot of emotional stuff that goes on in this movie, and the actors really pull it off. I also like how the writers mentioned all the damage that has occurred and the people that have died over the past Marvel movies. These past events are very important in the overall storyline for this movie.
Overall this movie was a BLAST to watch. One of the best Marvel movies I have seen yet. It did at times feel like the Avengers 2.5 and not Captain America 3, but I wasn’t overly concerned about it. This movie was so fun to watch and the action sequences were great. I think this movie will be one of, if not the highest, grossing movie of the year. And one that will be talked about for years to come. My grade for this movie is:
There is so much more I want to talk about, but I will make a spoiler review where I can write all that’s on my mind.
